CECIL THOMAS TRUSCHEL
(C. T. Truschel aka Cec)
Culver City, CA
CECIL, my Father, was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas in June 1895 to George and "Nannie" Truschel. He had more siblings than these: bro, Milton and wife
Minnie, bro Andrew (Andy) and wife Phoebe, bro Leo and wife Rosemary, sis Ollie and husband Judge Ten Broeck Warne, and sis May and husband Ed Smith. Have a complete family tree which includes all of his family going way back. I have only mentioned his siblings that were alive during my childhood days. Dad passed away in October 1982, having lived a majority of his adult life in Culver City, CA.
EVELYN Lola Truschel, my Mother and Dad's second wife, passed away in 1946 in Culver City. She was born in May 1915 in Los Angeles to Katherine (Davies/first Culver City Clerk) and Harry Megary. Her brother was George Megary, his wife Ethyl.
I have one brother from Dad and Evelyn and a deceased half sister from Evelyn and her husband before Dad, Lincoln Hart.
Dad and his first wife, Lulu, had no children.
After Mother Evelyn's demise, Dad soon married Katherine (Kay) Christine Carter, who passed away in 1961 in Culver City. She raised my brother and me. His last marriage was to Thelma Smith (my cousin on Evelyn's side of the family). Being a widow, Thelma continued to live in the house Dad had built in 1940 until her demise in 1994.
Some of Dad's hot shot close friends, during my time at home, were Hugh C. McDonald (Deputy Chief of the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department, author and inventor of the Identi-Kit), George Lester (owner of Lester Bros. Dental Lab), Eugene Biscailuz (Sheriff of the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department), Frank Sebastian (owner of the Cotton Club Night Club in Culver City and later on, a Night Club in Sacramento), Paul Coates (famous Newscaster and Columnist), Al Terrence (owner of Al Terrence Carpet Co., a movie theater, and later on, a member of the CA Parole Board), Del Lord (Movie Director), A.T. Jergins (Oil Big Shot), Ace Fike (small Restaurant owner), Paul Wachter (owner of Paul's Transmissions), etc. He always hung around with the big shots.
For 10 years during the early days, Dad was a Motor Officer, then did 8 years as Chief of Police of Culver City Police Department. After that he owned Truschel Bros., a foreign cars agency in Culver City with a used car lot across the street, until he totally retired in the sixties. During that time, he sold an Isetta automobile to Elvis Presley, who was then working at MGM Studios. Dad was a great businessman and the best in wheeling and dealing, having only a 6th grade education.
During my childhood, I was known as Cecile, Cec or Cici Truschel. I graduated
from Culver City High School in 1959. Want to write, my email is brock5851@aol.com
Have a great whatever!!!!
